Where Your Wedding Party Stays: Onsite, Together

The hardest part of a destination wedding isn’t the ceremony — it’s housing everyone. At Makoa, your wedding party and closest guests sleep onsite, up to 80 people across our villas, plantation house, penthouses, and Wailea Inn, while celebrations of up to 100 guests can be hosted at Villas by the Cove and Beachfront Villas.

  • No shuttle logistics. Guests walk from their villa to the ceremony in two minutes — nobody navigates a rental car after the reception.
  • The celebration doesn’t end at 10 p.m. After the reception, the group drifts to the pool and lanais instead of scattering to hotels across the island.
  • Getting-ready spaces built in. The bridal party takes a villa, the groomsmen another; photographers move between them without leaving the property.
  • A built-in wedding week. Wedding buyouts have a 3-night minimum — welcome dinner, beach day, ceremony, recovery brunch. A 4-hour event becomes a multi-day celebration.

Guests can book their units under your group block, or take the buyout and assign rooms yourself — one contact, one plan. See group stays for details.

What is the guest capacity?

Onsite lodging accommodates up to 80 guests across all of our properties. Celebrations of up to 100 guests can be hosted at Villas by the Cove and Beachfront Villas; Wailea Inn hosts events of up to 50 guests, with lodging for up to 36. Weddings and events that include guests staying off-property require a full-property buyout with a 3-night minimum — which most couples turn into a full wedding week.

Private use of the property you book: overnight accommodations, ceremony and reception spaces. You plan your celebration with your own vendors.

Absolutely! Our team can assist with room blocks, transportation coordination, and activity recommendations for your guests. At Makoa we ensure everyone enjoys the best of what our wedding resort in Hawaii has to offer – from arrival to farewell brunch. See our group stays page for how group bookings work.

We don’t offer wedding packages. Makoa provides the accommodations and the event site — you plan and host your celebration with the vendors of your choice. To host a wedding at Makoa, you will need to rent the entire property. Rates are dynamic by season and dates, and booking direct with us always beats OTA prices — contact us with your dates and guest count for a current quote.

Hawaii offers beautiful weather year-round, but many couples prefer the spring season (March to May) while the whales might still be there and the island just look fantastic. Choosing a date during the shoulder seasons ( May to June, and September to November ) can help reduce wedding prices in Hawaii.
